Hello, I am back - with some storytime!

It's been several months of radio silence, some promised podcast that still has not been released, and just a few sneak peaks on my instagram on what is going on / what has actually caused this radio silence of mine.

Well, I am back again, and happy to tell you everything.

I did it, we did it. We bought a house. And that already five months ago (wow, time flies) and it was completely unexpected, I swear.

Imagine you are, pretty much just for fun, looking for houses to buy, scrolling through some pages day by day a bit, daydreaming about how it would be to - one day - buy your first own home together and suddenly seeing one you like. No, the word "like" does not quite fit it - LOVE.

It definitely was love at first sight - and I am not even exaggerating.

So, you turn to your partner and say "Hey look! That house is gorgeous, don't you think?", which is being confirmed by some happy nodding. So you are going for it - you're sending a request for a house viewing, which shortly after is being accepted, see yourself driving there only a few days later and get this weird tingling sensation in your stomach and an unexplainable nervousness on your way there. Although you have told yourself, including your partner, many times before, that it is just a viewing and that it does not mean anything - especially because it is way too early to even think about moving in together already - you just cannot shake off this weird feeling inside of you.

But there you go - you ring the doorbell and there he is standing with a big grin. "Welkom!"

The real estate agent takes a step to the side and invites you in. And there it is... the house you have only seen on pictures, which you seriously thought could not be any more beautiful. But it is.

It is more beautiful than you could have ever imagined it to be. Just walking through this house, examining every single detail gives such a warm feeling inside. A very comforting feeling of home. And yes, I could literally picture it in front of me, how we would decorate it... the living room, the kitchen and dining room area. Upstairs - the bedrooms, the walk in closet / office. It just seemed so perfect from the very beginning that it would have been stupid to not try it. Not going for it would have meant giving up on a dream of mine, an amazing opportunity. And oh well, just because you bid on a house, does not mean anything yet, does it?

So yes, that is what we did. We submitted our bid the next morning after the house viewing, only to hear back two days later, that the bid got accepted. Mhm, that is how easy and unbelievably fast it went. Almost too easy. For those, in the Netherlands, who are familiar with the house market in the Netherlands - but also for those who aren't - it is incredibly hard to find a house that you like and actually win the bidding process. Some it took 1-2 year, sometimes even longer, to actually get a house they like, as the bidding process in the Netherlands is everything else but easy. So yeah, OMG, I am still completely stunned when saying that we actually got our dream home, which was our very first house viewing, and our first bid on a house ever. Lucky little bastards.

...no, we may absolutely not complain not winning the lottery, because what happened to us during the past few months - being so lucky to get such a beautiful home... that may not be taken for granted. The house itself just got renovated two years ago, so we literally did not have to do anything other than painting our two bedrooms, as we (yeah okay... me) wanted to have a different color on the walls. For the rest it was pretty much just packing our stuff and moving in.

Sounds like a dream and actually way too good to be true, right?

But that is - by far - not the only reason why you have not heard anything from me for the past couple of months here on my blog. Besides being really busy in the house and adjusting to some more private stuff, I quit my job, started working at an exterior design company / furniture manifacturer and, not to forget, bought a new car, because - you know - we did not spend enough money during the past few weeks and months yet. So, it has been a completely fresh start for me - a lot of things to process, and a lot of other stuff to focus on, other than my blog or a podcast release. Still, I am very sorry to have left you waiting. But, I am back and promise to be a little more active on my blog again.

Having some queries what I should talk about on my blog? Anything you would like me to talk about? Feel free to reach out to me anytime and stay tuned!
